Description
The idea of the project started in 2018 shortly after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida. At the time, there was a serious increase in school shootings and police brutality. The Uproar started in the anguish of this realization and determination to create resolutions.
It started with Jai Allen-Ible (Founder), Tristan Oliver, Ronald X & Sara Montolio. We did our first ever photo-shoot to promote the slogan “𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡”. Our mission is to raise attention to hate crimes and promote normalizing peace rallies.
We launched our first-ever peaceful artist rally in Fort Lauderdale (with Garage 22 as our host) on May 11, 2019. We continue to host quarterly events in acknowledgment of existing social crises. We do this to demonstrate that we can peacefully co-exist.
The Black Lives Matter movement is very much “𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡”. We represent standing as peaceful warriors in the midst of a crisis. All proceeds are returned to the Uproar Project and funding the movement.
